Matchday Travel

Derby County Football Club works closely with Derby City Council, Derbyshire Constabulary, local transport operators and supporters to help create and develop an effective Travel Plan for the club.

With as many as 32,000 people trying to get to Pride Park Stadium on a matchday, we are very conscious of the club’s impact on the environment, as well as the disruption caused by matchdays at Pride Park for some of our neighbours.

When making your journey to the stadium, we encourage supporters to travel by public or other transport and avoid travelling by car if possible. This will help us to reduce local traffic jams and inconsiderate parking around the ground.

Matchday parking is available around Pride Park Stadium for those supporters that can only travel by car - more information can be found on this page, under the Travel by Car and Matchday Parking (At the Stadium) tabs below.

Derby County has adopted a Travel Plan to help reduce the impact of traffic congestion around Pride Park Stadium on matchdays and the local area. The Travel Plan sets out a series of actions that the club and its partners aim to deliver.

These are as follows:

• Improve supporters’ travel options, with a focus on walking; cycling; public transport and car-sharing, to reduce the number of cars arriving at the Pride Park Stadium and surrounding areas on matchdays.
• Update matchday traffic management arrangements to improve safety on the roads around Pride Park Stadium and move home supporter coach parking closer to the stadium.
• Improve the management of matchday car parking on Pride Park to minimise traffic congestion and speed up departure from the stadium.

In the interest of pedestrian safety, a traffic exclusion zone is imposed around Pride Park Stadium on matchdays. It is in operation from 90-minutes prior to kick-off and up to 60-minutes after the final whistle with precise timings dependent upon traffic and pedestrian movement on Derwent Parade and Royal Way.

Please be aware that a traffic exclusion zone is imposed around Pride Park Stadium on matchdays, including a dynamic risk assessment, which is carried out as part of the club’s matchday traffic management system and closure agreement with Derby City Council. Therefore, road closures can be activated sooner than the final whistle if it is deemed unsafe for supporters.

There are a number of options available if you wish to travel by bus to Pride Park Stadium on a matchday and they include the following:

Arriva

Arriva Midlands bus services will divert along Pride Parkway, using existing bus stops on each Derby County home matchday.

All Arriva bus services operating in Derbyshire are fully accessible and consist of the following:

• Low floor with ramp, which can be used by wheelchairs; some buses may also have a kneeling facility
• The driver will operate the ramp or kneeling facility whenever you need it to get on and off the bus safely
• The low-level floor area is near the front of the bus and includes a wheelchair space fitted with a backrest, as well as priority seating
• ‘Bus stopping’ displays and colour contrasting handrails are provided on all Arriva buses to assist persons with specific access requirements.

Morledge Shuttle Bus Service

Operator: Hawkes tours
Route: Morledge (DE1 2AW, pick-up outside Shopmobility, Derby City Centre) to Pride Park Stadium
Times:The shuttle from the Morledge operates for all home league games at 20-minute intervals. These start 1 hour and 20 minutes before kick-off and the last one is 20 minutes before kick-off.
There is only one return journey after the match, and this departs between 20 and 30 minutes after the final whistle. We cannot say a specific time as the buses cannot leave until directed by the police.
From the start of the 25/26 season the fare will be £3 for adults per single fare and £1.50 per child per single fare when accompanied by an adult. Adult fare is from 11 years of age and is determined by the driver.

Brewery Tap Bus Service

East Midlands Railway operates high-speed trains to and from London and regional train services across the East Midlands and South Yorkshire. You can also book all UK train tickets through the East Midlands Railway website ensuring your arrival at Pride Park Stadium is quick and comfortable.

Derby Train Station is the closest train station to Pride Park Stadium and is approximately a 14-minute walk (0.8 miles) and the shortest route on foot is as follows:

• Walk east on Roundhouse Road.
• Turn right to stay on Roundhouse Road.
• At the roundabout, take the first exit on Pride Park Way (A6).
• At the next roundabout, take the first exit on Derwent Parade.
• At the final roundabout, take the first exit onto Royal Way.
• You will then reach Pride Park Stadium

Derby Train Station has six platforms and are divided into A and B sections.

Platform 1 can be accessed direct from the concourse, with Platforms 2-6 accessible via lifts and a footbridge.

The toilets are located on Platform 1, Platform 2/3 and Platform 4/6. Accessible toilets are also located on Platform 1, Platform 2/3 and Platform 4/6; these toilets are operated by a radar key. The radar key is available from Customer Reception upon request.

The car park and concourse are at the Western Entrance via Carrington Street, and the Eastern Entrance on Roundhouse Road leads to Pride Park Stadium.

Sharing your car journey is a great way of getting to the Pride Park Stadium - and Derby County is keen to promote it as a way of travelling to the stadium.

Reasons include:

• Sharing fuel and parking charges reduces the cost of travelling to matches.
• More people arriving in fewer cars reduces demand for matchday parking spaces around Pride Park Stadium and limits post-match traffic congestion.
• Travelling with 4 or more people is efficient use of your car, reducing emissions.

To encourage more car sharing, the club has taken the following steps to make it an even more attractive option for supporters travelling to Pride Park Stadium on matchdays.

If you are travelling by car, directions can be found below.

Directions from the North (M1)

• Exit the M1 at Junction 28 and follow the A38 South towards Derby.
• Remain on the A38 until the roundabout with the A61 (Signposted Derby A61), where the brown football signs will direct you along the A61 towards Pride Park Stadium.
• Remain on the A61 until the Pentagon Island roundabout where the signposts will direct you onto the A52 towards Nottingham and Spondon.
• Take the first exit from the A52 (signposted for the Wyvern Centre) and follow the slip road until you reach a roundabout. At the roundabout take the second exit (right turn) along Wyvern Way.
• Follow Wyvern Way until you reach the next roundabout and take a left onto Derwent Parade.
• Go straight on (second exit) at the first roundabout you reach, which is next to the stadium, and turn left (first exit) at the second roundabout you reach – onto Royal Way.
• The West Stand Car Park is the first turning on your left.

Directions from the South (M1)

• Exit the M1 at Junction 25 and follow the A52 West towards Derby
• Remain on the A52 for 5½ miles until you reach the junction for Pride Park
• Follow the exit slip road to the Wyvern Way roundabout and once there go straight on (2nd exit) to join Derwent Parade.
• Go straight on (second exit) at the first roundabout you reach, which is next to the stadium, and turn left (first exit) at the second roundabout you reach - onto Royal Way.
• The West Stand Car Park is the first turning on your left.

Directions from the West (A50)

• Travel along the A50 dual carriageway until you reach Junction 2 (signposted A6, Derby), where you should exit from the A50 and head north along the A6.
• At the first roundabout you come to turn left (second exit), following signs for Away Supporters and the Moorways Centre.
• Follow the road until you reach the Raynesway roundabout and turn right (second exit) along the A6 (London Road), signposted for the City Centre.
• Remain on the A6 (London Road) heading in the direction of Derby City Centre until you reach a roundabout.
• Turn right at the roundabout (third exit) heading along Harrow Street towards Pride Park on the A6.
• At the traffic lights continue straight on towards Pride Park, heading along Pride Parkway and over the railway bridge.
• At the roundabout turn right (third exit) into Royal Way.
• The West Stand Car Park is the third turning on your right.

Seasonal Car Parking - Car Park A & B (standard width spaces)

For supporters wishing to purchase seasonal car parking, please contact the Ticket Office for further information and assistance on 0871 472 1884 (option 1) *. Please note that once you have purchased a seasonal car park pass, spaces cannot be reserved in advance. On the day of the match, you will need to find an available space.

Seasonal Car Parking - (Accessible Car Park Spaces)

Match by Match - Car Park A & B (standard width spaces)

In conjunction with Derby City Council, an online booking system for Pride Park Stadium matchday car parking, priced at £10, is available. Please note that once you have purchased a matchday car park pass, spaces cannot be reserved in advance. On the day of the match, you will need to find an available space (please see Matchday Car Parking Ticket Purchase Guide below).

Seasonal Parking Pass holders are not required to book online but must continue to display their car park hanger on the day to avoid incurring a fine.

Non-Seasonal Parking Pass holders are advised that parking in Car Park A or B without booking via the link provided below risk incurring a fine.

Matchday Car Parking Ticket Purchase Guide (Car Park A & B only)

• To purchase the matchday parking ticket, first log onto the MiPermit website.
• Once logged onto the website, click ‘Pay for Parking’, which is located on the left-hand side of the page.
• Next, select the location option titled one of the following two tariffs:
  754606 – DCFC General Admission Car Park A
  OR
  754607 – DCFC General Admission Car Park B.
  Alternatively, you can also click ‘Select’ and search ‘DCFC’ to find the location option.
• Following that, select the date, duration that you will require and enter the registration number of the vehicle that you are paying parking for.
• Once completed, you will be able to complete your purchase for matchday parking ticket.
• Please note, you can provide either your mobile or email to receive a confirmation text and receipt.

Match by Match - Accessible Parking - Home Supporters

Derby County offer accessible car parking on both the West and East sides of the stadium to supporters that are Blue Badge holders, on a match-by-match basis and these spaces are located within a few yards of their respective stand. Spaces are allocated on a first come first served basis and can be booked by contacting the Accessibility Team on 01332 667528.

Accessible Parking - Away Supporters

The club has a dedicated car parking area for away supporters - Blue Badge Holders only - at a cost of £10 and this area of parking is located within 100 yards of the away seating area, located in the South East Corner. Spaces are allocated on a first come first served basis (please be aware that you will be asked to show and display your Blue Badge) and must be booked no later than 24 hours before the match. Non-Matchday - Car Parking

Visitors can park for free in the club’s main car park, on non-match-days only, which is accessed from Royal Way. The car park is directly in front of the main stadium entrance and club reception, which are in the stadium’s West Stand. Additional parking is available in Car Park B (Pride Park and Ride) where a day’s parking costs £3.

Traffic Management

For those supporters purchasing matchday car parking within Car Park A or Car Park B will also benefit from enhanced Traffic Management at Islands 1, 2 and 4 on Pride Park, meaning people parking here should be able to enjoy both the shortest walk to the stadium. Please be aware that due to the post match traffic management system, supporters will be prevented from leaving Car Park A on the final whistle for a short period of time. This period of time will be dependent upon the size of the crowd on the day and the number of supporters leaving the area.

Please Note: This is to allow for the safety of pedestrians leaving the stadium.

Buggy Service

The club operates a free shuttle service using buggies to transfer supporters who need extra help from both levels of Car Park A; this service also is also in operation around the stadium perimeter for those supporters that require to be transported to different parts of the stadium. This service runs up to kick-off and resumes after the final whistle, although supporters should note that due to congestion, the shuttle may suspend operation for a short period of time for the safety of all supporters.

East Midlands Airport is our nearest airport, located just 13 miles to the south of Derby, and is easy to get to by most forms of transport.

The quickest and cheapest way to get from East Midlands Airport to Pride Park Stadium is via the Skylink bus (£4.90 for an adult single ticket *) which runs between the airport and Derby Railway Station Forecourt (the closest stop for Pride Park Stadium) every 20 minutes during the day and hourly at night .

The bus journey takes approximately 30 minutes from the airport to Derby Railway Station Forecourt and it is approximately a 20 minute walk from the train station to the stadium.

The riverside pathway provides a traffic free way of getting you close to Pride Park Stadium from the city centre as well as from the south of the city.

If travelling by train, or just parking at the rail station, the station is only a 20 minute walk from the stadium.

You can get walking directions from your home by using Google Maps and entering the postcode for Pride Park (DE24 8XL) as your destination.

Derby City Council have implemented a Residents Only Parking Scheme across the City Point Development, which is a 15-minute walk, south of Pride Park Stadium.

Vehicles parking without a valid permit will risk a Penalty Charge Notice being issued.

There are signs at the entrance to Atlantic Way and Pacific Way, off the roundabout, stating ‘Permit holders parking only past this point’.

As there are no references to days or times on the signs a permit is required 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and includes bank holidays.

Restrictions regarding parking on yellow lines still apply.
